The News: Thanksgiving Edition

November 21, 2019

I told y’all that I’ll have a post about Thanksgiving and so here it is. There’s some non-Thanksgiving news to share as well, so I’ll get that out of the way first. If you are not interested, skip to the bottom of this post. Oh, and there’s a holiday coffee giveaway happening over on my Instagram right now if it’s relevant to your interests @keneatsgainesville.

-As I previously posted, Chef Steve Grimes from Crane Ramen is opening his own restaurant in the former Andaz location. Wayward Fox opens tomorrow at 5 PM, and is a culmination of Chef Steve’s time in Thailand, Jamaica, NYC, and Gainesville. It’ll be a counter service restaurant with a full bar, doing some unique dishes!

-In case you missed the breaking news alert last night, Arepas Milko will be permanently relocating into Gainesville, leaving behind their post in Jonesville. The new location for the truck will be at 405 NW 13th Street across from Krispy Kreme. If you are one of the handful of Newberry/Jonesville inhabitants who are upset at this move, just be patient.

-I’m late to this, but YES – Gyros Plus has reopened on 13th Street. Their new location is now at 2401 SW 13th Street. The new location will soon have a bakery next door making fresh pita breads as well.

-Ichiban will be relocating into Magnolia Park on 39th Avenue, taking the spot previously occupied by Bubbaque’s. Hopefully this will help ignite a return to form for them.

-Several folks have asked about this, but yes…Texas Roadhouse has now abandoned post at the original location in Butler West. The new location in The Commons at Celebration Pointe will be open tomorrow, so you can get your yeasty rolls.

-Swamp Head Brewery will be hosting their 6th Annual Gobble ‘til ya Wobble Party on Wednesday, Nov. 27th from 1 PM to 10 PM as the “ultimate pre-game” to Thanksgiving. Live DJ, food from EIM Thai, and delicious beers will be had for a swell time.
