My favorite bakery in town is starting to make some changes. Jackie Duffy of Uppercrust recently retired, and new ownership is making some moves to update the place a little bit. In addition to making some cosmetic updates and clean-up, the team has focused their efforts on a couple key areas in terms of hours and the food. While I love their croissants and pastries, I've always found it weird that they never did a sourdough bread or any macarons. Both of these things will be changing as they've got a sourdough starter now, and will also begin testing macaron recipes. Long overdue items that the closest thing we have to a French patisserie should have offered many moons ago.
One of the biggest complaints has been their lack of Sunday hours, which will be changing as well. New ownership will be looking at upcoming Sunday hours and shifting their day off to another day instead.
It's a new day at Uppercrust, and I'm very much looking forward to improvements of an already-wonderful establishment! Now if I can only get them to start serving Opus Coffee.
