Butler Town Center to open a Food Hall in Late 2018

May 12, 2017

I'm very excited to bring you guys an exclusive sneak peek into an awesome new concept in Gainesville. The folks at Shop at Butler are hard at work on Stengel Field Food Hall that will be built as part of the Butler Town Center on the site of the former Walmart and Lowe's on Archer Road. The name pays homage to the former Stengel Airfield that stood on the site of what has been Butler Plaza since the 1970's.

The food hall is going to be 13,000 square feet and will have a lot of design elements inspired by the 1940's and 50's. The plan is for 11 to 15 area food vendors to have space, a craft beer tap room, and shops for local flowers, fruits, and veggies. I know of a number of local vendors who have already inquired about space. Chef Bert Gill has announced he will be opening L'Avion, a French bistro, in the food hall.

The food hall is expected to be completed by late 2018, and will be a part of Butler Town Center along with the announced PF Changs and Whole Foods (that's right, the 365 by Whole Foods is becoming a full scale Whole Foods store).
