The News: Thanksgiving Edition

Many of you asked for it, so here it is! Here’s a roundup of some of the Thanksgiving happenings around town. I hope all of you have a wonderful holiday and enjoy plenty of wonderful food with wonderful people! To celebrate the imminent festivities, here’s a picture of me as a turkey trampling over a child while storming into Best Buy.

-The Great Outdoors Restaurant in High Springs will be doing their usual Thanksgiving Day buffet available from 11 AM to 4 PM. It will be $24.99 per person and just $1 for kids under the age of 12. There will be all the Thanksgiving favorites available; turkey, ham, sausage and cornbread, stuffing, mashed potatoes, assorted pies, and more. Call 386-454-1288 for reservations.

-Ipanema Steakhouse in Ocala will be open from noon till 6:30 PM on Thanksgiving Day and serving dinner all day long. If you’ve never been, it’s a Brazilian steakhouse that serves all-you-can-eat filet mignon, sirloin, sausage, prime rib, chicken, and pork. Reservations are filling up quickly. $41.95 per person.

-Paramount Grill will also be open Thanksgiving Day, serving three-course meals for $55 a person or $20 for children under the age of 10. Menu items include Duck fat and herb roasted turkey breast, baked rainbow trout with oysters, braised beef short ribs, and leek and caraway scented meatloaf of veal and lamb. -Bangkok Square will be open on Thanksgiving Day as well. Hours will be 11 AM to 3 PM for lunch and 5 PM to 9:30 PM for dinner. Specials include sea bass and jumbo shrimp with basil or garlic sauce or a soft shell crab with pepper sauce.

-Mildred’s is open from noon till 8 PM on Thanksgiving Day with a special menu. Reservations can be made by calling 352-371-1711. Some of the items include a classic turkey dinner, red trout, NY strip steak, salmon, and braised lamb. Full menu available on their Facebook page.

-Southern Charm Kitchen is offering catering for your Thanksgiving dinner, available for pickup on Wednesday, November 25th. Entrees serve 10-12 guests and come with two sides. Available are oxtail, Pentecostal Fried Chicken, Dolita’s Meatloaf Revenge, Roast Chicken w/ Caramel, Country Fried Seitan, Hopping John, Country Fried Tofu, BBQ Black-Eyed Pea Tempeh, and wings. -If you’re cooking at home, Ward’s is now taking orders for hams and turkeys. Standing rib roasts are also $7.89 a pound, Boston butt roasts are $1.69 a pound, and ribeye steaks are $7.99 a pound. Prices are good through Wednesday.

-Lucky’s Market will be open on Thanksgiving Day from 7 AM till 4 PM. They’re currently taking orders for their all-natural turkeys (non-frozen) starting at $1.39 a pound.
