The News 11/13/2014

It’s time once again for THE NEWS! Those of you asking about Thanksgiving Specials, I will be compiling a list of local specials and happenings to be posted sometime next week. But for now, lots of other awesome happenings going on, READY? AND GO!

-On November 30th, Gainesville’s very own Chef Valero from Sabore will be competing on Food Network’s Cutthroat Kitchen. Don’t miss that episode! I can’t wait to see what insane sabotages Alton Brown has in store for our resident crazy Spaniard.

-Tomorrow night (Friday, November 14th) there is a Hops & Harvest event hosted by The Wooly (20 N. Main Street). It will feature live music and tastings from local breweries First Magnitude and Swamp Head, as well as food from local farms like Rainbow Star, Tracy Lee Farms, The Family Garden, and Swallowtail Farm. Tickets are $5 and the event runs from 7 PM to 10 PM.

-I recently had the opportunity to scope out Crane Ramen’s absolutely beautiful dining room. Let me tell you guys, there was no expense spared in building one of Gainesville’s nicest restaurant interior. The kitchen is pretty bad ass too, and they have begun doing test runs. From talking to the team there, they are very serious about their ramen, and are taking their time to perfect it all. It’s coming very soon now! #welikebigpots

-This Sunday, November 16th, Grace Marketplace is holding an open house event from 9 AM to 3 PM. They are a new homeless shelter in town, and will be hosting several food trucks including Ameraucana Wood Fire, Bubbaluigi’s, and Off The Griddle. There will also be art on display, live music, and tree planting. Ameraucana is also pricing all their pizzas at $10, and give you the opportunity to buy a pizza for a homeless person. All proceeds go towards the Grace Marketplace.

-Emiliano’s Café is celebrating their 30th anniversary this month, and are putting on a photo contest. Post a picture related to the restaurant on Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter and tag them with #Emilianos30. 30 winners will get $30 gift cards on November 30th.

-Tomorrow is another Football Friday event at Swamp Head Brewery. From 4 PM to 9 PM, enjoy beer served outside, food trucks, and music.

-Vine Bread & Pasta is hosting a wine tasting on Tuesday, November 18th. Marjorie Speer from Opici Family Distributing will be pouring four different wines, paired with some Vine specials that will be available for the holidays. $10 to attend.

-The owners of Reggae Shack Café and Southern Charm Kitchen are working on a new Indian restaurant that will be going in the former Merlion building on SW 13th Street. More details to come soon!

-Blaze Pizza, a restaurant that’s kind of like a Chipotle for pizza where you build your own is moving into the former Willy’s Cantina on Archer Road next to Wendy’s. It’s a chain, but the pies don’t look bad.

-Please continue to share, like, post, like some more. Let’s hit 10,000 likes by year’s end!
