Fall is here in full force. Which means other than the BEAUTIFUL weather, there’s pumpkin everywhere…hell, I’ve even become a pumpkin. It’s another gorgeous weekend made even better with no terrible Gators football (I’m sorry, but we stink). What’s there to do? Here is the news!
-Ward’s Supermarket is celebrating 63 years in business this Saturday, October 25th. There will be sales throughout the store, local suppliers offering samples in the parking lot, wine tastings, and you guessed it…PUMPKINS…LOTS AND LOTS OF PUMPKINS. This goes from 9 AM to 4 PM.
-Why stop there? Continue your weekend of wines as Uppercrust is hosting a wine tasting from 12 PM to 4 PM this Saturday as well. There will be 5 wines available to tasting, presented by Gonzalo Oliva of GOS Wines.
-In case anyone has a craving, Lollicup over on SW 34th Street is currently selling gorgeous macarons. Flavors include Nutella, pistachio, rose lychee, almond, AND OMG PUMPKIN CINNAMON!!! GET IN THE CAR, NO TIME TO EXPLAIN!
-Today, Thursday, October 23rd from 4 PM to 9 PM, Swamp Head Brewery will be tapping a very special berry infused beer as part of their “Berries for Boobies” benefit. A portion of the sale of each berry beer will go towards the American Cancer Society. Drinking never felt more philanthropic.
-MORE PUMPKINS! Bento Café is bringing back the pumpkin wontons this Friday, October 24th. ZOMG PUMPKIN!
-Today also marks the opening of Spark at Embers, a new bar located next to…well…Embers Wood Grill off SW 34th Street. Full cocktail bar with food provided by Embers. It’s about time we got a nice bar in the Archer Road area!
-Shila Korean BBQ has announced they will be opened in the beginning of November. It doesn’t look like we’ll have to wait much longer to check out this copycat establishment with time limits and height restrictions on kids. I don’t know about you guys, but I’m intrigued to bits. It's also of interest to note that since my report, their website has been taken down and their logo colors have been modified.
