The News 9/22/2014

Welcome to another edition of THE NEWS! It’s only Monday, but the weekend is fast approaching. No football this weekend, so we all get a break from watching Jeff Driskel play horribly. I’m personally Team Treon, but that’s another story. Anyways, looking for food things to do this week and weekend!? Here it comes!

-As previously mentioned, Stubbies & Steins will be closing their doors this coming Saturday, September 27th. Get in there while you can. This is one of my favorite places ever and played an integral part in my beer-education. If I write much more, I’m going to be overwhelmed with sadness again.

-Beginning this Sunday, September 28th, 2nd Street Speakeasy will be hosting Burlesque shows featuring the beautiful Maressa Fox. There will be $5 cocktail and shot specials and performances between 10 PM and 1 AM. It’s…it’s going to be a swell time.

-Several food trucks, including Ameraucana Wood Fire will be out at the Innovation Square tomorrow (September 23rd) beginning at 4 PM as a part of a Chamber of Commerce Event. It is open to the public.

-Speaking of food trucks, High Dive hosts another food truck rally this Saturday, September 27th. Starting at 5 PM and going until people are full and happy. Free live music from local musicians, including the venerable Chuck Martin.

-Next Tuesday, September 30th, Leonardo’s 706 will be hosting another wine pairing dinner. Starting at 7 PM, it will be $75 a person and includes 5 courses paired with 5 wines. This month’s theme is “A Taste of Asia” and includes dishes like a Watercress & Daikon Salad with Miso and Roasted Red Peppers and Black Cod with Fermented Black Bean Sauce, Baby Boy Choy, and Coconut Jasmine Rice. Call the restaurant to reserve a spot.

-The fabulous Devil’s Eye Imperial IPA is back at First Magnitude, it’s probably my favorite of their beers. Also of note, THEY NOW HAVE FOOSBALL.

-I know it will come up, but there are no updates to share on Shila BBQ. Stay tuned for more news in the coming week on Whiskey House, Mojo Grill, Mojo BBQ, Taste’s new noodle house, and more!

-One last thing…I’d like to briefly address the people who have flipped out on me because they don’t agree with my negative reviews. I am not the final word. One man’s opinion won’t sink a ship unless it already has holes in it. Part of the beauty of this blog and my choice of medium is the ability to interact. Do not abuse this by resorting to making false accusations about me, attacks on my creditability, or personal attacks. One person’s opinion shouldn’t anger you that much. Open discussion is healthy and welcomed, blatant attacks on me are not. I kindly ask that we keep discussions civil and not resort to personal attacks or accusations. This is a food blog, not a final judgment at the Gates of Heaven. You relax with the angry fingers.
