Much News. Such Exciting. Very Information! Time for another round of exciting restaurant-related news from your favorite fat Asian!
-As reported months earlier, Square One Burgers, a burger joint based out of Tampa, is opening a location in Gainesville. The restaurant will be opening this coming Monday and serving only dinner for the next week. It will be located in the former Maui Teriyaki on SW 34th Street just south of Archer Road. The menu boasts a variety of burgers, shakes, and wings.
-Swamp Head Brewery broke ground on their new brewery this past week. It will be located in the 4600 block of SW 42nd Avenue by Alley Katz Bowling Alley. The new facility will be 13,000 square feet, feature a bigger tasting room, outdoor seating, and a growler filling station. You can follow their progress on their website at www.swamphead.com
-As previously mentioned, Chef Valero from Sabore recently won the Iron Chef Gainesville competition. If you were like me, and didn’t get a chance to taste his winning menu, July 22nd is your chance. Sabore is taking reservations now between 6 PM and 8 PM as Chef Valero will be serving up the same dishes that won him this year’s honor. Space is limited!
-Did you miss the first Crane Ramen pop-up dinner? I just confirmed with sources that another pop-up is in the works before their August opening. Ken Eats Gainesville and its readers will be some of the first to know when it has been announced!
-Maude’s is adding to Gainesville’s downtown bar scene as Maude’s Sidecar recently opened next door to the Café. The small space will have live music, craft beers with a handful of taps, and wines.
-High Dive will be hosting another food truck rally on Saturday, July 26th starting at 5 PM. Cymplify will also be hosting a rally on Friday, August 1st at 5 PM.
-The Jones Eastside recently closed down due to “catastrophic infrastructure problems”, whatever that means. They will be serving their breakfast at B-Side now, let’s hope they actually made some changes for the better. Otherwise…yeah…
