The News: Ken Eats America Edition

July 3, 2014

AMERICA! YEAH! Celebrate America this weekend with tasty food, lots of booze, and lots of high powered explosives. What’s going on this glorious weekend of red, white, and blue? This is a very special Ken Eats America edition of THE NEWS!

-Still trying to figure out what to do tomorrow? Tickets are still available for tomorrow’s Under The Table dinner. $75 gets you to a poolside full-course dinner with copious amounts of booze. There’s nothing more American than meat, booze, and CHLORINE! I’ll be there! www.underthetable.co

-What’s the most American thing you can think of other? No, not guns. PIZZA! Ok, it’s really Italian, but we claim it anyways. Ameraucana Wood Fire will be at Tipple's Brews tonight from 6:30 PM to 9 PM. They’ll also be at Midnight Cookies on Saturday at 7 PM.

-There are still a couple seats left for the 9 PM class for this Sunday’s Garden to Glass Cocktail Class at 2nd Street Speakeasy. $35 gets you 4 cocktails and cocktail lesson. What better way to unwind after a weekend of explosions, food, and alcohol by drinking MORE ALCOHOL. It’s also educational!

-The Hyppo recently collaborated with Intuition Ale Works in Jacksonville to come up with beer popsicles. There’s a number of flavors including the I-10 IPA Plum, Strawberry Peoples (People’s Pale Ale), and the Pineapple Saison. No word on if this will be available at our local Hyppo, but it wouldn’t hurt to go and show our demand! We’re so American, we drink our beer FROZEN.

-Just in time to celebrate the GREATEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD,Swamp Head Brewery is debuting a couple new beers this week. The Morning Glow is a vanilla coffee blonde ale, Catherine’s Passion is a Russian Imperial Stout with cocoa and coffee beans, and Day Trippin’ is a session IPA. Growlers are now available for both the Morning Glow and Day Trippin’.

-Show those Frenchmen who’s the greatest land of freedom in the world by consuming all of their baked goods so there’s nothing left for them. The best bakery in town, Uppercrust, is open regular hours tomorrow, so stock up on Croissants and Baguettes for your party. Just rename them TEXAS BULLHORNS and JUSTICE BREAD.

-Other businesses open tomorrow include Stubbies & Steins, Cilantro Tacos,Dragonfly Gainesville (dinner only), Vine Bread & Pasta, and Publix.

-As usual, keep on sharing, keep on liking, and please don’t forget to check out www.keneatsgainesville.com as well as @keneatsgainesville on Instagram. Be safe, enjoy the weekend, and Happy 4th of July!
