Stubbies & Steins

If you haven't already gone to Stubbies & Steins, you're missing out. The place is no secret, I'm sure almost all of you have at least had a beer there before. It is undoubtedly the best place for beer in this town. Sure, there is World of Beer, House of Beer, and a handful of other places that serve up good craft brews. But Stubbies & Steins is a pioneer of the craft beer revolution in Gainesville, and there's one thing that has absolutely set them apart from the others; the food. On any night, you could have a delicious array of German sausage, wiener schnitzel, or a mammoth serving of the best frites (french fries) in town. But if you really want to get a taste of something special, visit on Tap Takeover Wednesdays, when they do most of their food specials using the brand of beer featured on that day. It's when Chef Kevin Keller gets free reign and one of the most creative and talented chefs in this town goes to work. It is a weekly culinary event that brings some delectable variety to those who seek more than Mexican, Japanese, or hamburger options in this town. I can honestly say I have never been disappointed by his creations. Need some convincing? Here is just a small sampling of some of the past specials. Clockwise from top left are Yin & Yang Pork Belly: Crispy, Salted Pork Belly with Roasted Cashew Butter, Pickled Pineapple and a "Evil Twin Yin Taiji Imperial Stout" Reduction...Local Smoked Sausage served with Bavarian Mustard Whipped Potatoes and Spiced Red Cabbage...Local Smoked Sausage drizzled with "Anderson Valley Summer Solstice" BBQ Sauce and topped with Coleslaw...and Doner Kebab, a Turkish Lamb Meatball Pita. Still not convinced? Go try it for yourself, and I dare you to tell me that I'm wrong.
